Birju or Brijmohan a small town boy was gifted with a melodious voice. He loved to sing; even his crying had a melody. He sang whenever someone asked him to sing and offered him a few coins. His family disapproved of this as they felt that this habit will turn him into a bagger. Of course, there were few people who believed that one day he would become a great singer.

Chandramukhi, daughter of a proud arrogant and once rich Zarmindar was attracted by Birjoo's voice. Educated in city she felt that Birjoo could become a great singer. She became his friend philosopher and guide. Though she was in love with Birjoo, she knew that her friend Geeta, the daughter of Station Director of All lndia Radio was the person who could help him. And thanks to Geeta, who also fell for Birjoo's voice. Birjoo became a celebrity. He was now known as Pandit Birjmohan the star of the musical world.

Chandramukhi was happy that her faith and dream for Brijmohan's rise in musical world came true. As to her own feelings for Birjoo whom she loved she kept them suppressed. As to Geeta, though she was happy that her protege had become a success she wondered whether he reciprocated her love?

Birjoo alias Pandit Brijmohan found the world of success rather cold and heartless. He yearned to return to his home town, to his people and above all to the girl who had inspired him selflessly. And so he came back. At heart he was the simple small town boy whom success could not corrupt.
